Intuit, a Fortune 500 company, is making the tough decision to let go of 10% of its global workforce, approximately 1,800 employees, but insists it is not a cost-cutting measure. Instead, CEO Sasan Goodarzi explains that this move is part of the company's strategic transformation journey to invest more in AI and generative AI, focusing on products like Intuit Assist and enhancing user experiences. The company plans to hire new employees with specific skill sets to drive growth in priority areas. Not meeting performance expectations plays a role in the departure of some employees, with opportunities for success outside of Intuit. Executive roles will also be adjusted, and certain tech roles will be consolidated to growing sites while some locations will be closed. Departing employees will receive a generous severance package, reflecting Intuit's strong financial position and growth trajectory.
