Apple introduced an RCS toggle with the second beta of iOS 18, signaling the potential rollout of RCS messaging for iPhone users. Early testers have reported being able to send RCS messages to Android users, featuring enhanced capabilities such as higher resolution photos, larger file sizes, audio messages, and cross-platform emoji reactions. Additionally, features like read receipts, real-time typing indicators, and improved group chats are supported. This upgrade aims to provide a more enriched messaging experience for users. Currently, RCS messaging is only available to users in the United States on major carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon. However, not all users on these networks have access to RCS yet, indicating a gradual rollout. Once iOS 18 is officially released this fall, RCS messaging will be available to all users.
