iPad M4 Runs Circles Around Disappointing iPadOS 18 Upgrade: Is the New Operating System a Waste of Money?

Apple's reveal of iPadOS 18 at WWDC 2024 has been described as a 'damp squib' - disappointing and underwhelming. While the operating system will include some slick features like smart email categorization and message scheduling, the exclusive iPadOS 18 features are lacking. The addition of a native Calculator app and new customization options are nice, but overall, the iPad Air 2024 and iPad Pro 2024 with the new Apple M4 chip are not being fully utilized. Despite the powerful hardware, the software seems to be lacking in pushing the limits of these devices. The missing desktop-like experience when connected to the Magic Keyboard and generic tools like Apple Intelligence and Siri are not enough to truly take advantage of the new iPads' capabilities. The result is new iPads that are overpowered and potentially a waste of money in their current form.
