Joey Chestnut, renowned competitive eater, showcased his skills by devouring 57 hot dogs in just five minutes at an exhibition contest in El Paso, Texas, nearly matching the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest winner's record. The annual Fourth of July tradition in Coney Island proceeded without Chestnut due to a dispute with organizers over his endorsement deal with Impossible Foods. Instead, Chestnut participated in Pop Goes the Fort, raising $106,000 for military families. At the Nathan's competition, Pat Bertoletti emerged victorious for the first time since 2015. Despite efforts to reconcile, including Mayor Eric Adams' intervention, Chestnut was barred from the event due to the perceived conflict of interest. The 40-year-old holds the world record of 76 hot dogs and continues to be regarded as one of the best in competitive eating.
