Joey Chestnut devoured 57 hot dogs and buns in a five-minute exhibition at Fort Bliss Army base in El Paso, Texas on the Fourth of July, falling just short of the winning total at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island. Despite being banned from the contest this year due to an endorsement deal with Impossible Foods, Chestnut set out to beat the winning total in half the time. While he missed his goal, he was impressed by the competition, particularly Pat Bertoletti who won with 58 hot dogs. Chestnut's exhibition was livestreamed on YouTube, attracting 19,000 viewers, and saw him compete against four soldiers who consumed a total of 49 hot dogs. Despite the ban, Chestnut remains determined to overcome this setback and continue his competitive eating success.
