Twenty years after declining the role of Superman in the axed 2002 film Flyby, Jude Law has opened up about his decision, citing that it "just felt off". Despite later involvement in comic book franchises like Captain Marvel and Fantastic Beasts, Law explained his resistance to playing the iconic superhero stemmed from a lack of enthusiasm for joining a major franchise at that time. Even when presented with the iconic suit, Law couldn't envision himself in the role, ultimately turning down the opportunity. The film never materialized, and Warner Bros went on to release Superman Returns in 2006 with Brandon Routh in the lead role. Law's honesty sheds light on the complex decision-making process behind turning down such significant roles, while also highlighting the challenges that actors faced in the industry at that time, as expressed by actor Matt Bomer who also shared his experience with potentially playing Superman in 2003.
