Despite later involvement in comic book franchises like Captain Marvel and Fantastic Beasts, Law explained his resistance to playing the iconic superhero stemmed from a lack of enthusiasm for joining a major franchise at that time. Even when presented with the iconic suit, Law couldn't envision himself in the role, ultimately turning down the opportunity. The film never materialized, and Warner Bros went on to release Superman Returns in 2006 with Brandon Routh in the lead role.
