Kroger, America's largest traditional grocery chain, is set to sell nearly 600 stores in order to secure approval from antitrust regulators for its $24.6 billion acquisition of Albertsons. The Cincinnati-based company will be selling 579 stores to C&S Wholesale Grocers, but fortunately, none of the affected stores are in Ohio. The closest state affected by the sale is Illinois, with stores in a total of 19 states being impacted. Employees at these Kroger locations have already been notified of the upcoming sale. This strategic move by Kroger highlights the company's commitment to expanding its market share and solidifying its position as a major player in the grocery industry.
