Discount retailer Bob’s Stores is closing its brick-and-mortar locations, including one in New Jersey, after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. All 21 remaining stores will be permanently shut down and inventory liquidated in the coming weeks. President Dave Barton expressed regret over the financial necessity of this decision, acknowledging Bob’s Stores' longstanding presence in local communities for nearly 70 years. The New Jersey location at 3710 US-9 in Freehold is among those set to close soon. Discounts ranging from 30-70% off on clothing and shoes are being offered in a “Going Out of Business Sale” at all stores. Originally established in 1954 as “Bob’s Surplus,” the chain was acquired by TJX in 2003, leading to subsequent ownership changes. Bob’s Stores joins the growing list of retailers closing locations in recent times, such as Red Lobster and Rite Aid.
