McDonald's Australia adjusts breakfast hours amid bird flu concerns

Due to an egg shortage caused by a bird flu outbreak in Australia, McDonald's has temporarily shortened its breakfast hours by 90 minutes. The fast-food chain is now only serving its full breakfast menu until 10:30am instead of the usual midday, leaving fans of its late morning breakfast options waking up earlier. McDonald's is working closely with Australian farmers, producers, and suppliers to manage the egg supply challenges. While bird flu has been detected in poultry facilities across southeast Australia, authorities assure that they have the situation under control. With fewer than 10% of Australia's egg laying hens affected by bird flu, some businesses have imposed limits on egg purchases. The outbreaks have resulted in the culling of approximately 1.5 million chickens, but so far, the H5N1 variant of bird flu has not been detected.
