McLaren has successfully repaired the Formula 1 car damaged in Lando Norris' crash with Max Verstappen, using old floors that had been previously damaged and fixed. Following his retirement in the Austrian Grand Prix, Norris initially claimed his car was "destroyed" by the crash. However, the team managed to repair the damaged parts, which Norris previously deemed as the "best bits on the car", in time for the upcoming race at Silverstone. The triple-header of races in the 2024 season necessitated McLaren's preparation of spare parts for such situations. While Norris reassured that the car is ready for the British Grand Prix, he expressed concerns about the financial impact of the necessary repairs on the team's ability to invest further under the cost cap rules. Despite the challenges, Norris commended the team for their efforts in ensuring the car is race-ready.
