Microsoft has introduced a new feature in Windows 11 that integrates Microsoft account details into the Start menu, much to the dismay of IT admins and users. This change, included in the Windows 11 KB5039302 update, will be enabled for everyone on July 9. The traditional account menu in the Start menu has been replaced with a Microsoft account-powered experience, prompting users to view their Microsoft 365 subscription and other account details. While Microsoft touts this update as beneficial for easy account management, many users are unhappy with the change. Feedback suggests that users do not appreciate seeing their account details when trying to logout or switch users, with some feeling pressured to sign up for Microsoft 365. Despite the backlash, Microsoft is standing by the integration, indicating that it is a permanent feature of the Start menu.
