Fiona Harvey has sued Netflix over defamation claims in the show Baby Reindeer, which portrays her as a convicted stalker sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault. The lawsuit seeks $120 million in damages, alleging the streamer and showrunners knowingly spread false information for profit. The series follows a comedian, Donny Dunn, who encounters the character Martha, a dangerous stalker who bombards him with thousands of emails, tweets, letters, and voicemails. Harvey denies any criminal convictions, stalking, or assault as depicted in the show. Netflix is accused of failing to fact-check the statements and misrepresenting the true relationship between Harvey and Richard Gadd. This lawsuit comes after Netflix settled a similar defamation case, indicating a pattern of depicting real-life individuals in a harmful light without proper verification.
