Netflix Implements New Policy to Remove Users from Ad-Free Basic Plan

Netflix has started to kick existing subscribers off of their Basic plan, which was discontinued last year for new subscribers in the US, UK, and Canada. Members of the Basic plan have recently been receiving messages from Netflix informing them that their plan is being discontinued and they must choose a new one or face cancellation of their subscription. Some users were unable to access Netflix via the TV app until they resubscribed with a new plan. This move follows Netflix's announcement in January to retire the Basic plan in some countries. Now, subscribers in the mentioned countries have three plan options to choose from, with the cheapest being the Standard plan at $6.99/month. The Standard plan costs $15.49/month, with the Premium plan being the most expensive at $22.99/month, offering Ultra HD video quality. This change affects existing Basic members in Canada and the UK first, but US subscribers are expected to follow suit soon.
