Netflix has responded to the Baby Reindeer scandal after being sued by the "real Martha" by subtly addressing the controversy surrounding the show. Scottish law graduate Fiona Harvey, who believes she inspired a character in the series, is suing Netflix for $50m. The hit series, created by Richard Gadd, follows the story of a struggling comic being stalked for four years. As armchair detectives tried to identify the real-life figures behind the characters, concerns were raised about safeguarding protocols. Netflix has defended Gadd's right to tell his story and released Jessica Gunning's audition tape as support. Harvey alleges that she has been harassed globally because of the series and accuses Netflix of ruining her reputation. She is seeking $50m in damages and a jury trial. The controversy raises questions about the impact of biographical storytelling and the need for stronger safeguarding measures.
