The upcoming 2025 BMW M5 will be a powerful plug-in electric hybrid vehicle, combining an electric motor with a 4.4-liter V8 engine. Weighing in at a hefty 5,390 pounds, it is 1,000 pounds heavier than its predecessor and heavier than some trucks. Despite its weight, the M5 PHEV can accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 190mph with the M Driver’s Package. The vehicle can also operate on electric power alone at speeds of up to 87mph. The M5 runs in hybrid mode, utilizing both internal combustion and electric power based on driver settings. BMW plans to use internally developed batteries and EV motors in future M model EVs. The launch of this husky vehicle is anticipated during the fourth quarter of 2024, offering a unique blend of power and efficiency.
