New Galaxy Watch 7 and Ultra models no longer compatible with wireless charging from phones, obsolete chargers may result in slower charging times

Samsung's latest Galaxy Watch releases, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, have lost support for wireless charging with your phone. This feature, known as Wireless PowerShare, allowed users to conveniently charge their watches using their Galaxy devices. However, due to upgraded health sensors on the new watches, the shape of the glass on the bottom has changed, making wireless charging no longer possible. Samsung has confirmed that the Wireless PowerShare feature is not supported on the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra, as the alteration in design has increased the distance between the internal wireless charging coil of the watches and the wireless charger. This means that only the new charger specifically designed for these models will charge them at full speed, while older chargers may work at a slower pace and generate more heat. Despite this setback, the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra are available for pre-order and shipping later this month.
