According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is rumored to be developing a more affordable version of its Apple Vision Pro headset by relying on a tethered iPhone or Mac. This decision to shift resources towards a cheaper model was made even before the Vision Pro's release. The prototype, codenamed N107, is said to have a narrower field of view compared to the Vision Pro, in addition to being more dependent on an external device for processing power, enabling cost-saving measures. Despite facing challenges in reducing costs while maintaining key features, Apple aims to launch the budget-friendly headset by the end of 2025. However, the tech giant remains committed to the high-end market, with plans for a second-generation Vision Pro codenamed N109, boasting a faster processor and camera improvements, set for release by 2026 at the earliest.
