According to research by VGC, the Nintendo Switch has now become the longest-serving home console in Nintendo's history, surpassing the Famicom. It has been 2,687 days since the Switch's launch on March 3rd, 2017, one day longer than the Famicom's time on the market before the arrival of its successor, the Super Famicom/SNES. However, this record applies only to home consoles, as the Game Boy held the title for handhelds for 4,352 days. It is important to note that this milestone is based solely on the time from launch to the release of a successor, and not the overall lifespan of the system. While the date of the Switch's successor remains unknown, it is anticipated to be imminent.
