The city of New York is offering 10,000 free tickets to prime viewing spots on the West Side for the Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks show. Mayor Eric Adams announced that the tickets, distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis, will grant access to either Pier 45 near West 10th Street or Pier 84 near West 44th Street. In past years, the NYPD had faced criticism for reserving the best viewing spots for private parties, excluding the public from enjoying the spectacle. The fireworks will be launched from barges in the Hudson River this year, providing a new and unique viewing experience. Registration for the free tickets can be done online starting at 10 a.m. on July 4th through NYCJuly4.com. New Yorkers can anticipate a dazzling display of fireworks with multiple barges launching a variety of colorful shells in different shapes.
