OpenAI has released its ChatGPT app for macOS, available to all users running macOS Sonoma or later. The app, previously exclusive to Plus premium plan subscribers, allows prompt-and-response conversations with models like GPT-3.5, GPT-4, and GPT-4o, but does not support API usage. Users can enable a system-wide shortcut to input prompts easily. The new GPT-4o model offers faster and cheaper use with enhanced image and video interaction. OpenAI also teased a conversational voice chatting approach with ChatGPT. While the Mac app is downloadable from OpenAI's website, it is distinct from the upcoming Apple integration. Windows users may feel left out, as the company focuses on macOS. However, Microsoft offers its own ChatGPT-powered Copilot as an alternative.
