The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to 487 artists and executives, including Jessica Alba, Lily Gladstone, Greta Lee, Catherine O'Hara, and S.S. Rajamouli, director of "RRR." The new members will increase the AMPAS membership to 10,910 with 9,934 eligible to vote at the 97th Oscars in 2025. Notably, this year's invites include 44% women and 41% from underrepresented communities, marking a significant increase. The actors, casting directors, costume designers, documentary, executives, makeup artists and hairstylists branches have more women than men. The directors branch features top international and domestic filmmakers like Lila Avilés, Jayro Bustamante, and A.V. Rockwell among others. Notable invitees also include Oscar winners and nominees, as well as industry professionals like Duncan Crabtree-Ireland and Tim League. The diverse slate of invitees adds to the Academy's ongoing commitment to inclusivity and excellence in film.
