Rookie Paul Skenes made a monumental debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates, pitching seven hitless innings against the Brewers in a narrow 1-0 victory. Despite an incredible performance, Skenes left the game after throwing 99 pitches, allowing the Brewers a chance to break up the no-hitter in the eighth inning. Brewers' newcomer Aaron Civale matched up well, only giving up one run in 6 1/3 innings. In the end, Skenes' dominant pitching led to the Brewers facing their first home series loss in 11 tries. Former Brewer Yasmani Grandal delivered the game-winning double against his old team, securing the Pirates' lead. The Brewers, missing a late-game opportunity with the bases loaded, fell short in their efforts to overcome Skenes' masterful no-hit performance.
