The Pittsburgh Steelers will be missing one of their top defensive backs, CB Cameron Sutton, for the first eight games of the 2024 NFL season due to a suspension. This comes after Sutton was released by the Detroit Lions for domestic violence charges. Reports state that Sutton evaded police before eventually turning himself in. He was wanted for domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony. The NFL completed an investigation and found Sutton in violation of the Personal Conduct Policy. Despite missing half of the season, Sutton will not miss any division games and can return after the team's bye week. This suspension comes as another blow to the Steelers, as they deal with the loss of another player, DE Lonnie Phelps, due to a separate legal issue earlier in the offseason. Sutton's return to the team will be a test for both the player and the organization as they address the issue of domestic violence within the NFL.
