Pizza Hut has unexpectedly closed 15 locations in Indiana, citing a legal dispute with franchisee EYM Group as the cause. The closure affects 12 locations in multiple states in addition to Indiana. Pizza Hut claims EYM Group defaulted on millions of dollars in payments in June. EYM Group, on the other hand, alleges Pizza Hut failed to modernize its menu and digital ordering platform, leading to a breach of contract lawsuit filed in March 2023. Pizza Hut countersued, accusing EYM Group of financial irregularities and violating franchise agreements. After entering a forbearance agreement last year, Pizza Hut closed the locations in Northwest Indiana due to missed payments. While some local franchise-operated restaurants have temporarily closed, Pizza Hut aims to transition and reopen most locations soon. The company assures customers of its commitment to providing exceptional service and quality products.
