Prince William has arrived in Scotland to support Queen Camilla and Prince Edward at a special ceremony where they are becoming members of the Order of the Thistle, Scotland’s highest order of chivalry. The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will be installed as Royal Knights of the Order in a service at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, attended by Prince William. King Charles personally appointed them as members of the Order, which he oversees independently. Queen Camilla is patron of several charitable organizations in Scotland, such as Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres and Crathie Opportunity Holidays. Meanwhile, Prince Edward supports Scottish charities like the Edinburgh International Festival. Other notable appointees to the Order include forensic anthropologist Baroness Sue Black and Sir Geoff Palmer, Scotland’s first black professor. The ceremony is part of Holyrood Week, commemorating the 900th anniversary of Edinburgh Castle.
