Privacy Concerns Sparked as Rabbit R1 Records Chat History Without Option for Deletion

The Rabbit R1 AI assistant device has been storing users' chat logs on-device without the ability to erase them, according to a recent security bulletin. Rabbit has released a software update that includes a Factory Reset option to wipe the device completely, addressing this privacy concern. Additionally, the update prevents stored pairing data from accessing users' Rabbithole journal, enhancing security measures. Previous reports of hardcoded API keys in the company's codebase were traced back to an employee who has since been terminated and is under investigation. Rabbit vows to improve its security practices and conduct a full review of device logging procedures to prevent similar issues in the future. While the risk of data exposure may seem minor, both the company and users are taking proactive steps to protect sensitive information stored on the Rabbit R1 device.
