Qualcomm, in collaboration with Google and Android OEMs, is making strides to simplify the process of providing Android updates. Chris Patrick, SVP and General Manager of Handsets at Qualcomm, disclosed that changes in inline code structure have been implemented to make it easier for brands like Samsung to release software updates. These changes aim to reduce the obstacles faced by Android smartphone brands in keeping their devices up-to-date. While improvements have been ongoing, an upcoming announcement from Qualcomm later this year is expected to further enhance the efficiency of Android updates. This anticipated revelation is anticipated to be made at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 in October, coinciding with the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. These advancements come in the wake of Samsung offering extended software support, with up to seven major Android OS updates promised for high-end devices. Overall, these developments signify positive progress within the Android ecosystem, with increased focus on providing timely and consistent updates to users.
