Renowned chef and "Top Chef Masters" alum Naomi Pomeroy tragically drowned in a freak tubing accident at 49 years old while on the Willamette River in Oregon. While enjoying the river with her husband and another person, Pomeroy got caught on a snag in the water and was unable to free herself. Despite search efforts by authorities using sonar, cameras, and drones, her body has not yet been recovered. Pomeroy, known for her award-winning restaurant Beast, was a highly acclaimed chef with a James Beard Award and appearances on popular cooking shows. She closed her restaurant due to the pandemic in 2020 and shifted focus to new ventures. The search for Pomeroy continues, with the sheriff's office dedicated to bringing closure to her family and loved ones.
