The World Boxing Council has expelled Ryan Garcia due to his use of racial slurs against Black people and disparaging comments about Muslims on social media. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the decision on X, stating that any form of discrimination is rejected by the organization. Garcia posted an apology, claiming he was trolling and wants the violence to stop. This comes after Garcia received a one-year suspension from the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs in his victory over Devin Haney. Additionally, he was arrested for felony vandalism at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Beverly Hills. The WBC's actions demonstrate a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and unethical behavior within the sport of boxing.
