Samsung cautions users about compatibility issues with Copilot+ PCs

Samsung's new Copilot+ PCs, featuring Qualcomm processors, have arrived in South Korea with a warning that they may not run many common applications. These machines, designed to deliver impressive AI capabilities with Microsoft's Copilot+ PC label, utilize Arm processor architecture rather than the more common x86. Microsoft has attempted to address compatibility concerns with an emulation layer called Prism, promising seamless performance for both native and emulated applications. However, Samsung Korea's compatibility notice lists several notable applications, games, and websites that are incompatible with their GalaxyBook Edge 4 Copilot+ PCs. This includes security applications, Adobe Illustrator, Google Drive, Fortnite, League of Legends, Halo Infinite, and specific financial service websites. Additionally, certain printers may require new software to function properly. It is unclear why these compatibility issues are specific to South Korea, with no similar notices found on Samsung sites outside the country. This could potentially be related to past antitrust rulings in the region, raising questions about regional variations in product offerings and support. Readers are encouraged to stay tuned for updates as Microsoft and Samsung address these concerns.
