Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games series, is set to release a new installment titled Sunrise on the Reaping on March 18, 2025. The fifth book in the series will take place 24 years before the events of the first novel and will focus on the Fiftieth Hunger Games, featuring Haymitch Abernathy as the victor. While no film rights have been announced, the previous films based on the series have been hugely successful, grossing nearly $3 billion. Collins drew inspiration from David Hume's idea of implicit submission and explores propaganda and narrative control in the new book. Scholastic's president, Ellie Berger, praised Sunrise on the Reaping as a remarkable addition to the Hunger Games story, providing readers with new complexity and perspective on the world of Panem.
