Two University of Georgia football players, Smael Mondon and Bo Hughley, were arrested for reckless driving earlier this week and released on bond. The senior linebacker, Mondon, was taken into custody on July 10 while the redshirt freshman offensive lineman, Hughley, was arrested on July 9. The arrests were reported by UGA Insider Radi Nabulsi. It remains unclear if the incidents are related.
Mondon was charged with reckless driving and racing on highways/streets, while Hughley faced charges of reckless driving and failure to maintain lane/improper driving on the road. Both players were released after posting cash bond amounts totaling $26 each. Mondon was arrested by Athens-Clarke County Police, while Hughley was arrested by University of Georgia Police.
These arrests are part of a series of driving-related incidents involving the UGA football program, prompting Coach Kirby Smart to emphasize player safety. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
