The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on 12 top executives of Kaspersky Lab, following a ban by the Commerce Department. These sanctions aim to safeguard the country's cyber domain and combat cyber threats. However, the sanctions do not apply to Kaspersky's parent company, subsidiaries, or CEO Eugene Kaspersky. The move targets high-ranking individuals including the COO, Deputy CEO, and Chief Legal Officer of Kaspersky. This action comes after the Commerce Department barred Kaspersky from offering its services in the U.S. due to national security concerns. Russia has criticized these measures as a means to suppress foreign competition. Kaspersky denies any connections with the Russian government. The sanctions signal a firm stance by the U.S. in holding accountable those involved in facilitating malicious activities in the cyber realm.
