Yahoo has launched a new version of its news app, combining the successful elements of the now-defunct Artifact app with advanced AI capabilities. Artifact, created by Instagram founders, used AI to personalize news content based on user behavior before shutting down due to slow growth. Yahoo swiftly acquired Artifact and integrated its technology into the Yahoo News app, aiming to provide users with tailored news content. The revamped app is ad-supported, free, and available on iOS and Android without requiring a Yahoo account. It features AI-generated summaries of news articles and personalized recommendations, initially available only on mobile but with plans to expand to desktop. Yahoo's senior VP promises a complete redesign with a user-friendly interface and advanced AI algorithms to enhance the news reading experience.
